By Train


Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from either Tokyo Station or Ueno Station to Nagano Station. Trains leave multiple times each hour and will take 80 – 100 minutes to get there. A one-way ticket costs around 8,000 yen but is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass and JR East Nagano Niigata Area pass.

Once at Nagano Station, take the Nagaden Express Bus at Stop 23 outside of JR Nagano Station east exit directly to Shiga Kogen. The trip takes approximately 70 minutes to get to the Hasuke Bus Terminal – the gateway terminal of Shiga Kogen. Tickets for the bus can be bought directly from the bus driver.

By Bus

Take the Keio Dentetsu Bus from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal to Nagano station. There are frequent departures daily and the trip takes approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes. Tickets can be purchased online or at the station and cost 3,200 JPY for a one-way adult ticket.

By Car


Take the Kanetsu Expressway heading north from Nerima IC to Fujioka JCT. Once at Fujioka JCT turn left onto the Joshinetsu Expressway. Head towards Nagano and exit at the Shinshu Nakano IC.
